Corporate Governance Lawyer Opportunity

We are seeking a lawyer to join our team in developing expertise in corporate governance within the not-for-profit sector. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced legal professionals with deep knowledge of the sector.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A practising certificate entitling them to practise law in Australia.
  • A keen interest in governance and not-for-profit law.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts in plain English.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PPT etc.

Desirable qualifications include experience in the not-for-profit sector, knowledge of Corporations Law, company secretarial duties, or governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with clients to assess legal and governance challenges, providing tailored recommendations and solutions.
  • Support senior lawyers in preparing and reviewing company and incorporated association constitutions, advising on legal structures, taxation law, and association governance matters.
  • Conduct legal research and draft letters of advice on various matters, including association and corporate law, board matters, mergers and amalgamations, membership structures and general meetings.
  • Assist in the development and application of in-house legal templates.
  • Contribute to governance training modules for clients.
  • Manage and maintain client files effectively.
  • Participate in marketing and business development initiatives as needed.
