Job Title: Prevention Officer
About the Role:This is a part-time opportunity for a skilled professional to work in a community setting, promoting health and wellbeing through prevention initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:- Liaise with government agencies, professionals, and community groups to progress community action on alcohol and other drug (AOD) prevention initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based prevention strategies to reduce and prevent AOD related harms at a local and regional level.
- Maintain accurate timely records of AOD prevention activities for reporting internally and to community stakeholders and funders.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with service providers and community groups to identify local needs and ensure referral pathways.
- Coordinate the regional response to Volatile Substance Use in line with protocols for reporting and responding.
- Work with colleagues to develop educational and promotional strategies, campaigns, and publications for AOD prevention activities.
- Research and prepare submissions and reports relating to AOD prevention programs and projects.

- Demonstrated ability to work with health and other community groups on education, health promotion, and community AOD prevention initiatives.
- Experience in or demonstrated ability to develop, implement, manage, and evaluate AOD prevention initiatives.
- High level of written communication skills, including report writing.
- High level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including negotiation skills and the ability to liaise with people in a variety of contexts.
