Position Overview

This is a part-time role, working 38 hours per fortnight in Port Hedland.

The role involves working Monday to Friday.

H.O.P.E has been providing community services in Western Australia for over 120 years, offering support in areas such as alcohol and other drugs, mental health, justice and family violence.

About the Opportunity

The main objective of this position is to collaborate with various government agencies, professionals and community groups to advance community action on alcohol and other drug (AOD) prevention initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Some key duties of this role include:

  • Developing and implementing evidence-based prevention strategies to reduce AOD-related harms at local and regional levels.
  • Maintaining accurate records of AOD prevention activities for reporting purposes.
  • Establishing partnerships with government and non-government service providers to identify local needs and ensure referral pathways.
  • Coordinating the regional response to Volatile Substance Use according to MHC protocols.
  • Working with colleagues to develop educational materials and promotional strategies for AOD prevention activities.
  • Conducting research and preparing reports related to AOD prevention programs and projects.
  • Collecting data required for funding bodies.
  • Participating in quality assurance activities and evaluations of H.O.P.E.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training.
  • Knowledge of the impacts of alcohol and other drugs on individuals and communities.
  • An understanding of professional boundaries.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage difficult situations.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
