About the Role

Knox City Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Portfolio Office Lead to drive excellence in their portfolio and project management practices.

This is a full-time or part-time (4 days per week) permanent role, based at Knox Civic Centre. The council supports flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive analysis and reporting on portfolio and project health and progress, including financial management and benefits realisation, to governance bodies and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with Program Leads and Project Managers to ensure accurate and timely portfolio and project level reporting.
  • Report to the Head of Portfolio and Enterprise Change and have line management responsibility for one Portfolio Analyst.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • A proven track record of running a Portfolio Management Office or delivering programs on time and on budget using disciplined planning and mastery of project management techniques and processes.
  • Critical skills including program and project health reporting, decision making, influencing and high-level financial acumen.
  • The ability to provide strategic oversight to enable monitoring of interdependencies across the portfolio of projects.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication aptitude.
  • Strong collaboration and relational skills with a proven track record of developing staff capabilities with a demonstrated commitment to respect for the individual and integrity in relationships and communications.
  • Demonstrated skill in managing analysis and hypothesis-driven problem-solving.
  • Developed strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think laterally, courageously and creatively when developing solutions.
  • Aptitude to develop meaningful reports and data-driven insights and dashboards.
