About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources & Learning Manager to join our team at Shangri-La Cairns. As a key member of our Human Resources Department, you will be responsible for the coordination of HR practices, including recruitment, work health and safety, and employee relations.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards, including the Fair Work Act, NES, WHS Act, and other relevant Awards & EA.
  2. Assisting, directing, and guiding the team through the employee life cycle, recommending and implementing innovative ideas to drive business growth and improvement.
  3. Assisting with people development and career guidance to support growth and succession planning.
  4. Managing and coaching colleagues to improve performance in line with hotel policies, procedures, and our refreshed business Purpose, Vision, and Values.
  5. Facilitating monthly HR reporting to track and create meaningful data for overall business improvement.
  6. Coordinating and facilitating learning and development initiatives in line with business needs, including:
    1. Developing and delivering the Hotel Orientation program to ensure new starters understand their roles, the hotel's organization, and its policies.
    2. Supporting and monitoring departmental orientation programs and on-the-job certification processes.
    3. Coordinating work experience, traineeships, internships, and external training programs, including site inspections and appraisals.
    4. Collaborating with department heads and HR to identify training needs and develop training materials.
    5. Evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and supporting the development of departmental trainers.
    6. Liaising with external partners to enhance training opportunities.
    7. Developing the annual Training Business Plan and Budget and supporting overall HR functions.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • A strong background in a similar role, with prior experience within the hospitality or hotel sector.
  • Possession of a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment would be highly regarded.
