About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Center Operations Specialist to join our team at Amazon. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-driven individual with a strong technical understanding and passion for critical facilities management.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for sustaining availability, cost management, risk assessment and mitigation, review corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure and metric reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in a 24/7 rotating shift pattern to ensure seamless operations.
  • Undertake and support management of both routine maintenance and emergency service of critical systems such as switch-gear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, fire systems, etc.
  • Installation of new rack capacity and provisioning of power/cooling.
  • On-site management of contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed adheres to established practices, procedures & local legislation.
  • Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses and prepare reports and documentation of all aspects of critical facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
  • Manage the facility's assets and generate change management requests & incident management tickets for all facility-related events (mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
  • Collaborate with data center IT managers and other business leaders to coordinate day-to-day operations, projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.

A Day in the Life

No two days are the same in AWS data centres but, typically, your day will include attending operational meetings, mentoring and development of less experienced engineering operations technicians, planning and scheduling of maintenance activities for critical infrastructure, collaborating on solving complex engineering problems impacting critical infrastructure, and collaboration with other AWS data centre regions globally.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in facilities management, maintaining a datacenter or other critical space facility.
  • Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with awareness of and adherence to physical security protocol.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) and web browser-based applications and tooling.

Salary Estimate: The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
