As a key member of the team, you will ensure that Ventia meets all its tax obligations on time and within the context of our tax risk and governance frameworks.
Based at our beautiful North Sydney head office, you will work closely with our Tax Manager to support our wider finance function and business in relation to all taxation matters across our diverse ASX listed organisation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- All tax compliance obligations for both Australia and New Zealand, with a focus on GST, FBT, withholding tax, and fuel tax credits.
- The accurate and timely preparation of the Group's Joint Venture income tax returns.
- Preparation of workpapers, position papers, and file notes to support positions adopted.
- Assisting our Tax Manager with statutory tax reporting, budgeting, forecasting, half-year and year-end audit, and updates, as well as the implementation of changes to Ventia's Tax Corporate Governance frameworks.
- Performing reconciliations of tax accounts and conducting reviews of business system processes to ATO best practice, fostering continuous improvement.
- Providing proactive and practical advice to stakeholders across the business.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders on all tax matters and queries, as well as performing ad-hoc projects and general administration.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tax Adviser with a Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or accounting, preferably having completed or nearing completion of the CA or CTA. You will have demonstrated experience working on GST and FBT tax matters for large organisations, with a high degree of curiosity and an ability to challenge the status quo.
