Job Title: Underwriting Manager, Casualty Brooklyn

AXA XL is seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead our Casualty Underwriting team in Brooklyn. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of underwriting operations within the central region, ensuring portfolio profitability, account pricing, and renewal retention.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute departmental strategy and achieve P&L metrics, including verification of appropriate risk premium calculations to ensure profitability.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients and broker partners, identifying opportunities for cross-selling and ensuring account retention.
  • Manage insured and producer relationships across a large geographical territory, ensuring client satisfaction and fulfillment of their insurance requirements.
  • Lead and develop a team of Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters, providing guidance and support to achieve business objectives.
  • Oversee submissions, including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports, ensuring timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards.
  • Continuously improve underwriting processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with corporate and divisional guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred and equivalent experience in policy development and broker management.
  • Strong technical skills with Microsoft Office and other relevant systems.
  • Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.
  • Leadership skills, guiding and influencing others to achieve business objectives.
  • Marketing skills, planning and executing sales and business development strategies.
  • Negotiation and sales skills, planning and conducting negotiations with brokers and clients.
  • Interpersonal savvy, building excellent relationships with brokers, clients, and colleagues.
  • Industry knowledge, understanding of the insurance industry and specific product portfolios.
  • Strategy and planning skills, making underwriting decisions to fulfill business strategic plans and deliver results.
  • Analytical skills, visualizing, gathering information, articulating, analyzing, and solving complex problems.
