Job Summary

As an Underwriting Manager, Casualty Brooklyn, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of underwriting operations within the central region. This includes portfolio profitability, account pricing, portfolio rate change, renewal retention, marketing, new business production, development of staff, and broker and client management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute departmental strategy and achieve P&L metrics, including verification of appropriate risk premium calculations to ensure profitability.
  • Manage insured and producer relationships across a large geographical territory.
  • Develop and implement effective marketing strategies to maintain visibility in the market and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Lead and develop a team of Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters, providing guidance and support to achieve business objectives.
  • Manage operational responsibilities, including oversight of submissions, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports, ensuring timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to quality standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred and equivalent experience in policy development and broker management.
  • Strong technical skills with Microsoft Office and other relevant systems.
  • Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.
  • Ability to lead in accordance with AXA XL core values and culture.
  • Leadership, marketing, negotiation, and analytical skills.
