About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wellbeing Lead Counsellor to join our Behaviour and Specialist Programs Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-level therapeutic case management, consultation to school teams, and working proactively to support learning and teaching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) model to provide targeted interventions and support to students with complex and challenging behaviours.
  • Respond to referrals from school counsellor colleagues who require intensive support for identified students and their families.
  • Manage a caseload of varying degrees of complexity, providing individualised support and guidance to students, parents, and teachers.
  • Work within an intensive therapeutic case management model to develop and implement effective support plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including teachers, psychologists, and social workers, to provide a holistic approach to student support.
  • Engage with schools and other professionals to support them in meeting the needs of students presenting with complex and challenging behaviours.
  • Work intensively with families to support their child and strengthen home-school partnerships across different schools.
  • Liaise with external agencies and professionals to enhance student support and provide additional resources as needed.
  • Support leaders and staff to respond effectively to student risk and develop strategies to mitigate potential issues.
  • Collaborate with the school team and other stakeholders to construct tier 3 behaviour plans and risk management strategies.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people, as well as experience in complex case management, counselling families, and cognitive, emotional, and behavioural assessment.

You will also possess a minimum of three years' experience as a registered Psychologist or Social Worker, with the capacity to make a significant contribution to student welfare and wellbeing. Additionally, you will demonstrate evidence-based professionally informed judgement in dealing with sensitive issues and the ability to engage students, parents, and teachers in the counselling process.

Qualifications and Accreditations
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in a field related to counselling or psychology.
  • Eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or general registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Compliance with NSW Child Protection Legislation - Working with Children Check clearance.
