Role Overview

As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing counselling and holistic mental health support to our elderly clients living in Residential Aged Care Facilities across the Western Sydney Region.

Your responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive mental health assessments, developing personalized treatment plans, and providing individual and group counselling sessions.

You will also collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and advocate for the mental health needs of older adults within the RACF.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for older adults
  • Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each client's unique needs
  • Provide individual and group counselling sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, caregivers, and family members to ensure holistic care and support
  • Advocate for the mental health needs of older adults within the RACF
Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications for the professions of Psychologist, Social Worker, Counsellor, Registered Nurse or equivalent
  • Minimum two years' experience with counselling, psychotherapy, and/or other focused psychological strategies; including working with people with a mental health challenges and/or experience in the aged care sector
  • Current membership to professional body (e.g. AHPRA, AASW or Australian Counselling Association or equivalent), continue to provide membership annually with employment
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence and own comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
