Position Overview:

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated and skilled professional to join our team as a Wellbeing Lead Counsellor. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about fostering mental health and wellbeing within educational settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work exclusively during school terms.
  • Full-time permanent position.
  • Base salary of $128,635.00, plus superannuation.

As a Wellbeing Lead Counsellor, you will:

  • Collaborate with educational institutions and professionals to implement comprehensive mental health and wellbeing programs.
  • Engage with families to enhance support for students and strengthen partnerships between home and school.
  • Provide both individual and group counselling services to students, while assisting in the identification and application of reasonable adjustments.
  • Coordinate with external agencies to enrich student support services.
  • Support educational leaders and staff in effectively addressing student welfare issues.
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop personalized support plans for students.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will align with the core values of Catholic Education and possess:

  • A thorough understanding of the mental health needs of children and adolescents.
  • Experience in providing counselling services to young individuals using evidence-based practices.
  • Expertise in cognitive, emotional, and behavioral assessments for children and youth.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a registered Psychologist or Social Worker.
  • The ability to make a meaningful impact on student welfare and wellbeing within educational environments.
  • Proven judgement in handling sensitive matters with professionalism.
  • The capacity to engage effectively with students, parents, and educators throughout the counselling process.
  • Skills to facilitate educational sessions for parents and caregivers.
  • A commitment to supporting our Catholic ethos.

Qualifications Required:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or general registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Compliance with NSW Child Protection Legislation, including a Working with Children Check clearance.
