Payroll Manager for Government Organisation

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join our team in Melbourne, CBD. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing for a Victorian state government organisation.
About the Role
This is a 3-month contract opportunity with a salary of up to $59/hour plus superannuation. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with two days working from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Process fortnightly payroll for a large workforce
- Manage overtime, allowances, and shift penalties
- Process termination payments and leave entitlements
- Handle salary sacrificing and deductions
- Submit PAYG and superannuation payments
- Process Workers Compensation claims
- Maintain complex award interpretations
- Reconcile payroll accounts and general ledger
- Generate payroll reports and tax documentation
- Manage garnishee orders and salary packaging
- Process back pay calculations
- Assist with payroll tax and FBT reporting
Requirements
- Government/public sector payroll experience
- Award interpretation expertise
- High attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
