Empowering Young People with Disabilities

Our new Youth Disability Support Services are designed to empower young people with disabilities as they navigate the transition to adulthood, fostering independence and confidence. This service will provide the support young people need to build essential life skills, boost their confidence, and strengthen their community connections.

The role of a Youth Disability Worker is to create a safe, empowering environment that helps young people reach their goals. Guided by the Case Manager, you will provide person-centred, trauma-informed care, meet daily needs, and foster emotional, social, and cultural wellbeing. You will assist with appointments, family visits, community connections, education, and life skills, promoting independence as they transition to adulthood.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting young people with disabilities in 24/7 Supported Independent Living
  • Providing person-centred, trauma-informed care and meeting daily needs
  • Fostering emotional, social, and cultural wellbeing through education and life skills
  • Assisting with appointments, family visits, community connections, and other activities

Requirements:

  • Minimum Certificate 4 (or studying) in a related discipline, with preference given to Youth Work and human services qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Youth Worker within a disability context, with demonstrated experience of trauma-informed care
  • Proficient computer skills and experience using Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card), NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card), Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS2), First Aid, CPR, National Criminal History Check (Fit2Work), and an open Driver's License with comprehensive insurance on your vehicle
