**Job Title:** Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician

">About the Role

The Southern NSW Local Health District is seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinician to join their team in Goulburn. As an Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician, you will provide recovery-focused, person-centered and culturally competent services to individuals with mental illness, distress, and risk issues.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing assessment, care coordination, intervention, liaison, advocacy, and review services. This role is an identified position under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, requiring applicants to demonstrate Aboriginality and meet specific selection criteria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, safe, and connected care to consumers and their families in a person-centered and holistic manner
  • Collaborate with consumers, their families, and carers, as well as other stakeholders to promote self-determination and recovery
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local Aboriginal communities to enhance service delivery and cultural understanding
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of mental health strategies and policies
  • Participate in education and training activities to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Health Science, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work)
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with relevant professional bodies (e.g., AHPRA, Australian Association of Social Workers)
  • Proven experience working in mental health, preferably in an Aboriginal health context
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • High level of computer literacy and proficiency in Electronic Medical Record systems

  • Psychologist: $74,742 - $109,397 per annum
  • Registered Nurse: $70,049 - $98,351 per annum
  • Social Worker Level 1/2: $70,944 - $101,211 per annum
  • Rural Incentive: Up to $5,000 (as part of NSW Health Rural Incentive scheme)
