Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician Job Summary

This position plays a crucial role in providing recovery-focused services to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people experiencing mental illness, distress, or risk issues.

The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of Aboriginal cultures and established links with the local community.

About The Role
  • You will work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess, coordinate care, intervene, provide advocacy, and review cases.

This is a Category 'A' position, requiring applicants to agree to occupational assessment, screening, and vaccination against specific diseases.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Tertiary qualification in Health Science (Mental Health) or current registration with AHPRA for Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers for Social Workers.
  2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families, carers, and stakeholders.
  3. High level computer skills, including accuracy and knowledge of Electronic Medical Record Programs and Microsoft Office Programs.
  4. Knowledge and understanding of Mental Health & Alcohol and Other Drugs strategic directions, including those related to Aboriginal People and their communities.
  5. Understanding of legislation and policies relating to Mental Health care provision, including the Mental Health Act 2007.
