Job Opportunity

The Homelessness, Family and Justice Division provides a range of services to prevent or reduce the impacts of homelessness and family cycles of disadvantage. The division consists of four conceptual domains:

  • Accommodation;
  • Youth and Family Homelessness;
  • Frontyard Youth Services;
  • Family Services.

Frontyard Youth Services is a specialist youth service providing multidisciplinary programs to meet the holistic needs of young people aged 12-25 who are at risk or experiencing homelessness. Frontyard aims to support young people to meet their physical, emotional and social needs and develop pathways out of homelessness.

Young Woman's Crisis Service case managers provide intensive, goal-focused case management and assertive outreach support to young women with and without children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The YWCS team also provides intensive, goal-focused support to young women in short to medium-term accommodation across the north and west metropolitan region of Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities

Case managers will manage the portfolio and cases of the YWCS team for young women who are homeless or at risk and develop advanced case planning and crisis interventions suitable for their respective needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the portfolio and cases of the YWCS team;
  • Developing advanced case planning and crisis interventions;
  • Participating in the delivery of Frontyard's Assertive Outreach Program;
  • Assisting young people to access ongoing accommodation options; and
  • Maintaining a continuous and extensive knowledge of Frontyard programs and relevant external service providers.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor qualification in social work, youth work or a related tertiary qualification;
  • Demonstrated experience working within a case management framework;
  • Understanding of the available resources for at-risk young women and their children;
  • Strong ability to actively and assertively engage young people with complex needs;
  • Extensive understanding of the homelessness service system;
  • Knowledge of the legislative requirements when working with at-risk young people;
  • Ability to maintain child safety; and
  • First Aid certificate.

Selection Criteria

The following criteria will be used to assess your application:

  • National Police check;
  • Working with Children check or ability to obtain;
  • Valid Victorian Driver's license;
  • Right to Work in Australia;
  • Up-to-date COVID-19 vaccinations or valid medical exemption.
