Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to support the Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP) in safeguarding Australia's livestock, aquaculture industries, and public health from infectious disease threats.

The successful candidate will provide high-level advice to the ACDP Directorate on stakeholder and external interactions, formulate and prepare responses to information requests, reports, and strategic communications, analyze complex issues, develop responses, and make decisions under pressure.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a world-class research centre and contribute to Australia's frontline defence against emerging infectious diseases. The role will involve providing administrative support to the ACDP Directorate, managing operations, reporting, strategic communications, and planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing high-level advice to the ACDP Directorate on stakeholder and external interactions
  • Formulating and preparing responses to information requests, reports, and strategic communications
  • Analyzing complex issues, developing responses, and making decisions under pressure
  • Coordinating reporting, planning activities, and leadership meetings
  • Leading or managing sensitive projects aligned with CSIRO's strategy and research priorities
  • Building and maintaining relationships within ACDP and with external stakeholders

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (preferably biological or animal sciences) or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written communication skills, capable of preparing complex scientific, strategic, and government reports
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills in ambiguous or urgent situations
  • High-level organizational skills to manage competing demands and meet deadlines
  • Proactive approach and effective collaboration across teams and external partners
  • Experience in project management, including planning, engagement, and reporting
