This is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the prevention and control of vaccine-preventable diseases and respiratory infections across the public health system. The incumbent will lead a team in providing statewide policy, strategy, surveillance, assurance, and coordination activities to ensure the community's safety.
About the RoleIn this position, you will be responsible for coordinating and developing public health control strategies that draw upon evidence and local intelligence. You will work closely with stakeholders to implement effective interventions and monitor their impact.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement statewide policies and strategies for preventing and controlling vaccine-preventable diseases and respiratory infections;
- Lead a team of professionals in providing policy, strategy, surveillance, assurance, and coordination activities;
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement public health control strategies;
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make recommendations for improvement;
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong understanding of public health principles and practices;
- Leadership experience in a public health setting;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- The ability to think critically and strategically;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Experience in policy development and implementation;
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
- Familiarity with Victorian health policies and guidelines.
