
Chief Animal Disease Investigator

As a Lead Animal Health Specialist, you will be part of the team responsible for ensuring animal health and welfare in Victoria. Your key responsibilities include leading disease investigations, managing animal welfare programs, and working with government departments and industry representatives to achieve shared goals.
This role requires strong leadership skills, as well as expertise in veterinary science and animal health. You will need to have a tertiary degree in Veterinary Science registrable with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria, as well as relevant work experience in animal health and welfare.
Some of your key duties will include:
- Leading and managing a district team to deliver high-quality animal health services
- Developing and implementing programs to prevent, investigate, diagnose, control, eradicate, and treat diseases of farmed livestock in Victoria
- Collaborating with other agencies and stakeholders to identify and address animal health risks and issues
Key requirements for this role include:
- A Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent degree
- Relevant work experience in animal health and welfare
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
