Role Overview

The Infection Prevention and Control Specialist is accountable for developing, implementing, and continuously improving infection prevention and control strategies. The primary objective is to minimize the transmission of communicable diseases by providing support to industry, workplaces, and the community in preparing for, preventing, and controlling infectious diseases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing, delivering, and continuously enhancing infection prevention and control strategies
  • Supporting industry, workplaces, and the community in preparing for, preventing, and controlling infectious diseases knowledge and practices

Requirements

  • Registered nurse, registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Postgraduate qualification in Infection Prevention and Control or equivalent
  • Recent clinical experience in Infection Prevention and Control
  • Working knowledge of, and experience implementing, Victorian and Australian infection prevention and control standards and guidelines
  • Experience in providing infection prevention expertise across diverse settings (e.g., hospital, RACF, disability sector, workplaces, community)
  • Commitment to maintaining clinical knowledge, further education, and working within scope of practice
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, establishing and maintaining collaborative professional relationships
  • Experience writing clear, concise reports, policies, and procedures
