
Effective Hospital Operations Manager

The After Hours Nurse Manager plays a pivotal role in the effective management of hospital operations outside of regular business hours. This position involves overseeing patient access and care coordination, as well as monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure seamless delivery of healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership in managing hospital facilities outside of regular business hours, including operational management of patient access and care coordination.
- Maintain vigilant monitoring of KPI targets such as Emergency Treatment Performance (ETP) and Transfer of Care (TOC).
- Lead crisis management during significant after-hours events in consultation with the on-call Executive.
- Manage nursing and support staff after hours, optimize skill mix, and ensure health and safety responsibilities are met.
- Collaborate with the Patient Flow Co-Coordinator and drive nurse-led strategy and practice improvement through a practice development approach.
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the relevant governing body.
- Recognised tertiary management qualifications or working towards same, with evidence of recent professional development to enhance leadership and management competencies.
- Demonstrated experience in change management with measurable outcomes.
- Demonstrated leadership and senior management experience in a complex healthcare environment.
- Recent broad clinical, operational, and strategic experience at a senior level within a healthcare setting.
- Strong verbal, written, and negotiation skills; ability to use information technology platforms and produce clear plans and reports.
- Understanding of industry-wide strategic directions, quality, and safety framework, and the nursing agenda.
- Knowledge of current clinical practice, models of care, and ability to motivate and lead staff to achieve service and professional goals.
