Senior Engineering Director

The Senior Engineering Director will play a pivotal role in overseeing the strategic direction of rail engineering, encompassing strategy, design, construction, and maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement best practice management of rail assets to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Lead commercial contracts and supply chain services, focusing on performance optimization, contract management, and commercial excellence.
  • Provide technical assurance services to guarantee safety and integrity across Sydney Trains and TfNSW projects.
  • Deliver safe, reliable, and commercially competitive fleet maintenance services, including cleanliness and operational readiness.
  • Oversee large-scale maintenance, renewal, and enhancements on railway assets, including track, signals, control systems, electrical, and operational technology.

About You:

  • Proven experience as an executive leader with expertise within the engineering and/or maintenance fields.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a senior leadership role, preferably with a rail or engineering background.
  • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and other executive leaders.
  • Ability to confidently lead engineers and technical experts while challenging when necessary.
  • Developing, leading, and driving engineering and maintenance frameworks and systems across a diverse and complex organization.
  • Building relationships with stakeholders at all levels and articulating complex concepts and rationales.
  • Leading team maturity and navigating change and cultural reform.
  • Managing employee wellbeing and mental health within a complex operational organization.
  • Creating, delivering, and maintaining clear outcomes-focused frameworks across a large-scale organization.
  • Championing a customer-centric safety ethos.
