We are seeking an Aboriginal Identified Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Support Officer - Female to join our Kalpa Purru Wirranjarlki – Public Health Services Section, based in Tennant Creek.
This role is offered on a Full-Time basis and involves working with a small team to develop, promote, and undertake supportive, evidence-based resources and activities aimed at reducing tobacco smoking among Aboriginal communities within the Barkly region.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Support the development, coordination, and facilitation of positive engagement, interventions, and activities in accordance with the TIS program guidelines and organisational policies.
- Assist in the delivery of regional smoking prevention related campaigns, community events, forums, and information sharing that promotes tobacco awareness, cessation, and smoke-free environments.
- Develop and maintain effective networks and relationships with diverse Aboriginal community groups.
- Contribute to the identification and management of risk or potential risk to clients to reduce immediate concerns.
- Ensure all program material and content is up-to-date, appropriate, relevant, and engaging for the target audience.
Requirements
- Minimum Cert. III in Aboriginal Health or equivalent or willingness to undertake training.
- Experience working in Aboriginal community health or welfare services and ability to support the delivery of culturally responsive programs and services.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective networks and relationships, particularly with diverse Aboriginal community groups.
- Demonstrated task completion for community forums or events with due dates.
- Current NT drivers license.

- A competitive salary range of $61,005.00 - $65,562.00 per annum.
