Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Aboriginal Health Worker to join our Public Health Services team.

In this role, you will work closely with our community to develop and implement programs aimed at reducing tobacco smoking and promoting smoke-free environments.

You will also be responsible for supporting the delivery of regional smoking prevention campaigns and community events.

This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our clients and contribute to the improvement of Aboriginal health outcomes in our region.

About the Role

This is a full-time position based in Tennant Creek.

You will be working as part of a small team responsible for developing and implementing strategies to reduce tobacco smoking and promote smoke-free environments.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of community-based initiatives aimed at reducing tobacco smoking and promoting smoke-free environments.
  • Assisting in the delivery of regional smoking prevention campaigns and community events.
  • Working closely with our community to identify and address the needs of our clients.
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies and other service providers.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A minimum Certificate III in Aboriginal Health or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working in Aboriginal community health or welfare services.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse community groups.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide support to clients in a culturally responsive manner.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.

Please note that a current NT drivers license is also required for this role.
