Independent Visitor Opportunity

We are seeking volunteers to support children and young people in care, helping them build positive relationships and achieve their potential.

  • This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who can dedicate time to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.

About the Role

You will be matched with a child or young person sharing similar interests, enabling you to develop a meaningful relationship and provide emotional support.

The Independent Visiting service offers flexible volunteering opportunities, allowing you to choose activities that suit your availability and preferences.

No prior experience working with children is required; full training and support are provided to ensure your success in this role.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities as an Independent Visitor include:

  1. Becoming a positive and supportive presence in the life of your assigned child or young person.
  2. Engaging in regular, one-to-one visits, which may involve activities such as outings, hobbies, or simply spending time together.
  3. Developing a relationship built on trust, respect, and open communication.
  4. Providing emotional support and guidance, while also respecting the child's or young person's autonomy and individuality.

Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you should:

  • Be able to commit to at least 24 months of volunteering, with regular monthly visits.
  • Have a genuine interest in supporting children and young people in care.
  • Be able to work independently, using your own initiative and judgment.
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
