The Position

The Orange Door is an integrated approach to support women and children experiencing family violence, as well as vulnerable families around the wellbeing of their children. It offers a support pathway for persons using violence. We work in partnership and side by side with other agencies, which requires openness to working differently and collaboratively. We are seeking an individual with expert knowledge and experience in clinical and social services management, capable of managing complexity and risk, and embedding Child and Young Person practice.

The Children and Young Person's Practice Leader will provide expert practice leadership on engaging children and young people, assessing risks and needs, and supporting interventions for those impacted by family violence or experiencing vulnerabilities due to other factors.

Expertise and knowledge required include:

  • Experience working with children and young people in a family violence context.
  • Knowledge of the drivers of family violence, child and family vulnerabilities, and familiarity with child and family services and social services sectors.
  • Experience leading practice within complex, multi-disciplinary, and multi-agency service delivery contexts.
  • Expertise in clinical and social services management, with a focus on family violence, child development, attachment, trauma theories, and understanding of relevant legal systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, drive cultural change, and support a large, diverse team of professionals.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Ability to identify and manage obstacles and opportunities for development.
  • Self-management skills and fostering a culture of resilience.
