Communication and Public Outreach Officer
We are seeking a highly skilled Communication and Public Outreach Officer to join our team in Canberra. This exciting opportunity will see you working closely with our Regional Delegation to develop and implement innovative communication strategies, products and events that promote our humanitarian work.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the social, political and media landscape in the Pacific region and be able to leverage this knowledge to build strong relationships with key stakeholders. You will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of our communication and public outreach strategies, as well as identifying and developing opportunities for partnerships and collaboration.
You will be an experienced communications professional with a strong track record of developing and implementing successful campaigns and initiatives. You will have excellent writing, presentation and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. A university degree in a relevant field such as communications, international relations or journalism is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement communication strategies that promote our humanitarian work and values;
- Identify and develop opportunities for partnerships and collaboration with key stakeholders;
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local media outlets and other key stakeholders;
- Oversee the development and implementation of our communication and public outreach strategies;
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of our communication and public outreach activities;
- Maintain accurate records and reports of all communication and public outreach activities.
Requirements:
- A university degree in a relevant field such as communications, international relations or journalism;
- At least 3 years' experience in a communications role, preferably in a humanitarian or non-profit organization;
- Excellent writing, presentation and interpersonal skills;
- A strong understanding of the social, political and media landscape in the Pacific region;
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines;
- A strong commitment to promoting human rights and dignity.
Benefits:
- This is a full-time, open-ended contract based in Canberra;
- The salary is AUD105,000 plus 12% super;
- The ICRC offers an additional monthly contribution to private health insurance;
- The position is eligible for salary sacrificing;
