Working with the International Committee of the Red Cross, you will be part of a global network that protects and assists people affected by conflict and violence, promoting laws that protect war victims.
The ICRC is an independent, impartial and neutral organization based in Switzerland, employing 17'000 people in 90+ countries.
The MissionWe are seeking a professional to work with our team in Canberra and collaborate with the Regional Delegation for the Pacific.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in strategizing, planning and implementing programs to promote International Humanitarian Law.
- Monitor legislative developments related to IHL in the Pacific region.
- Research and draft analyses, advice and presentations supporting activities.
- Deliver presentations on IHL and humanitarian issues to various audiences.
- Liaise with academic circles regarding pedagogical tools and resources.
- Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent)
- Post-graduate degree in a relevant field is an asset
- Knowledge of IHL
- Experience in research, analysis and synthesis of legal and policy texts
- Strong communication skills to explain complex issues clearly
- Demonstrated sense of initiative, autonomy and adaptability
- Excellent organizational and computer skills
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
