Job Title: Strategic Leader

We are seeking a strategic leader to provide operational management and advocacy for recreational fishers across Victoria.

  • Lead advocacy efforts on behalf of recreational fishers and anglers.
  • Provide authoritative advice to the Board and government stakeholders.
  • Manage financial, governance, and reporting obligations.
  • Drive delivery of the Strategic Plan and Funding Agreement with the State Government.
  • Build partnerships, sponsorships, and networks that advance recreational fishing.
  • Oversee staff and contractors.
  • Represent VRFish publicly, including media, stakeholder forums, and community engagement.
About the Ideal Candidate

Seeking a leader who can combine policy advocacy, financial acumen, and organisational management. You will bring:

  • Proven ability to advocate and influence government, industry, and community stakeholders.
  • Experience in financial management, governance, and reporting in a not-for-profit or member-based organisation.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to engage across diverse groups.
  • Political awareness and the ability to navigate complex issues.
  • Knowledge of recreational fishing is highly desirable.
