Job Title: Senior Strategic Planner

This role involves leading the preparation and implementation of strategic plans, guidelines, policies and planning projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and action the preparation and processing of planning scheme amendments in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Support and represent the Coordinator Strategic Planning as directed.
  • Identify opportunities and solutions to issues impacting the operation, direction and activities of the Strategic Planning Unit.
  • Represent the Strategic Planning Unit on internal and external groups as required.
  • Prepare and review project briefs, funding submissions, Council reports and briefing papers.
  • Review, analyse and comment on documents provided by officers, consultants and external sources.
  • Provide an information base for Council, the community, government agencies, developers and the local business sector regarding strategic/structure plans and policies.
  • Provide effective community consultation including keeping the community engaged and informed.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • A tertiary qualification in Town Planning or related field.
  • Detailed knowledge and ability leading the preparation of strategic plans, guidelines, policies and managing a range of projects.
  • Knowledge of planning scheme amendment processes and procedures.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly developed project management skills and 3-4 years of experience leading projects and teams.
