Strategic Policy Leader

The Ministry of Justice is seeking a Senior Policy Advisor to lead policy work and coach junior advisors within the Courts and Justice Services Policy Unit.
- Lead programmes of work, providing expert advice on topical matters and contributing to policy development.
- Coach junior staff, developing their skills and abilities.
- Manage multiple workstreams, prioritising tasks and delivering results.
As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact in shaping policy and improving the justice system. Your expertise and experience will be valued and utilised to achieve positive outcomes.
Requirements- A strong policy skill set, with a proven track record in solving problems and analysing complex issues.
- Excellent relationship management skills, able to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong work management skills, including planning, prioritising and delivering across multiple workstreams.
- A clear and effective communication style, able to explain complex information to Ministers and other audiences.
The successful candidate will have a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience. Experience with the legislative process or a legal background would be an advantage but is not essential. Treaty of Waitangi analysis skills are highly desirable. Applicants must have the right to work in New Zealand.
