Job Opportunity

The Ministry of Justice seeks an experienced leader to oversee Anti-Money Laundering policy in a fixed term role.

This newly established position will bring strategic oversight and leadership to our AML/CFT work programme. We administer the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009, delivering legislative changes, monitoring the system, and leading cross-system co-ordination, governance and stewardship.

This is an exciting time to contribute to our AML work - New Zealand's approach to AML is undergoing significant system-level change. Our programme of work is complex and fast-paced.

The Director will maintain oversight of the delivery of the breadth of the work programme and play a key role in managing relationships with government and industry stakeholders, as well as international counterparts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic leadership skills – experience in leading others in significant projects in a dynamic environment
  • Relationship skills – strong skills in engaging diverse stakeholders, incorporating their perspectives
  • Advisory skills – extensive knowledge of machinery of government, public policy, and reporting processes
  • Communication skills – excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly presenting complex issues in an accessible way
