We are seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Census Operations Manager.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, local knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with community members.
As a Census Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality field operations in regional and remote areas. You will coordinate and manage teams responsible for Census collection activities within your area.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Recruiting, training and managing small teams of field staff.
- Developing, updating and reviewing work plans for your area of responsibility.
- Connecting with the community, establishing networks and maintaining relationships.
- Promoting participation in the Census within the community.
- Working collaboratively with other Census and ABS staff in your area.
You will also be required to provide regular written and/or verbal progress reports to the Remote Operations Management team, complete administration forms and other duties as directed, and maintain a safe working environment.
This role requires someone who is able to work independently, prioritize tasks with limited guidance, and make decisions independently. You should have strong project management skills, particularly in an operational setting, and the ability to lead or manage a team in a busy, high-volume environment.
Key qualities and experience required for this role include:
- Experience working with or advocating for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Sound local area knowledge and the ability to read and navigate maps.
- Proven ability to communicate and develop relationships with people in the workplace and community.
- Capability to work independently, prioritize tasks with limited guidance, and make decisions independently.
- Strong project management skills, particularly in an operational setting.
Assistant Operations Managers may also be considered for this role, providing support to the Census Operations Manager and undertaking a combination of procedural, operational and administrative duties.
