Overview of the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Fellow to join our team at Swinburne University of Technology. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of research and experience in supervising research students.


About the Job

This fixed-term position is available for 3 years, with the possibility of extension. You will be working on a Future Fellowship project led by Associate Professor Rosalie Hocking, focusing on advanced synchrotron-based techniques for green chemical manufacture.

Your primary responsibility will be to conduct research in electrocatalysis materials, contributing to world-leading research in this field. You will prepare research articles, reports, grants, beamtime proposals, and review beamtime proposals. Strong knowledge in areas such as electrochemistry, analytical chemistry, computer programming, or thermal spray fabrication would be an asset.

Key Accountabilities
  • Conduct high-impact research in electrocatalysis materials
  • Supervise PhD students and mentor them in maintaining a safe work environment
  • Prepare competitive grants and contribute to the development of new catalysts for green chemical manufacture
  • Collaborate with the research team to achieve project objectives
About You

To be suitable for this role, you will need to have:

  • A PhD or equivalent in chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering
  • Experience in supervising research students and mentoring others in laboratory practices
  • A strong track record of research, particularly in academic and industrial settings
  • Ability to plan, lead, execute, and publish high-impact papers over a sustained period
