About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Officer to join our team at the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases (ACBD). In this exciting position, you will provide technical support to our researchers, assisting them in their work on novel glucose-responsive insulin platforms, imaging technologies, and advanced drug delivery systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, conduct experiments, and analyze data to support research projects.
  • Train and guide colleagues on equipment use and standard protocols, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest methodologies, technologies, and data management techniques to optimize research outcomes.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to research projects, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct animal studies, including diabetic mouse models and other disease models, as required.
  • Perform molecular biology and protein-related tasks, such as cell culture, RT-PCR, qPCR, Western Blotting, ELISA, protein purification, and immunohistochemistry.
  • Support flow cytometry (FACS) and other advanced technical processes.
Requirements:
  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such as molecular biology or biochemistry.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, protein work, histology, and animal models.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning.
