Seeking Community Leader

Established for over 70 years and led by a dedicated board, management and staff, our organisation has become recognised as a leader in supporting people with disabilities in the Northern Rivers.

The Board is responsible for the overall strategic direction and works with management in setting strategies for the organisation. The person we are seeking will have:

  • a commitment to community service,
  • an understanding of operating in regional areas,
  • an understanding of and experience in governance,
  • ability to relate to a diverse group of stakeholders,
  • a willingness to help lead and grow the organisation in a sound, diligent, caring and sustainable way.

We are interested in people who have a diverse range of qualifications, skills and experiences including those with legal or ITC backgrounds.

Board meetings are conducted monthly, usually from 5:30pm on a weekday in Lismore NSW, with teleconference facilities plus a one-day strategy session twice a year.

Appointment terms are for 3 years with the option of further terms. People from Indigenous, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Contribute to the development of the organisation's strategic plan;
  2. Provide guidance and support to management;
  3. Attend Board meetings regularly;
  4. Represent the organisation at external events;
  5. Act as an ambassador for the organisation.
