Data Governance Leader

The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of a governance model that accommodates the diverse data management requirements across the department. This includes managing the activation of the DCCEEW data and digital data strategy and Data Governance Framework, as well as providing data policy advice, guidance, and assistance to embed data governance and align data management practices across the department.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a principles-based data governance model to ensure compliance with the department's Information and Data Governance Framework, policies, standards, and guidelines in line with data management practices and ethical principles.
- Lead engagement with subject matter experts in privacy, records, and security management to embed data governance by design in the department and ensure that best practice data management tools and techniques are shared across the organisation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to drive effective and consistent information and data governance practices and support uplift in data capability, maturity, and quality across the department.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing data governance frameworks and policies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data governance principles and practices, as well as excellent leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
