Career Opportunities: Technical Claims Specialist

The Department for Education seeks a highly skilled Technical Claims Specialist to manage complex workers compensation claims in accordance with the Return to Work Act 2014 and Code of Practice for Crown Self-insured Employers.
As a Technical Claims Specialist, you will contribute to the achievement of government and departmental injury management targets and objectives through effective administration of legislative requirements and risk management practices in a complex multi-disciplinary team.
You will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of departmental injury management procedures and improvement initiatives, as well as undertaking senior-level case management, including responsibility for the overall cost expenditure related to claims and representation of the Department at the South Australian Employment Tribunal.
This is an ongoing role offering a competitive salary package, including ASO6 $98,478 - $104,165 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%) and leave loading.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage highly complex and litigated workers compensation claims in accordance with the Return to Work Act 2014 and Code of Practice for Crown Self-insured Employers
- Contribute to the achievement of government and departmental injury management targets and objectives
- Develop, implement, and manage departmental injury management procedures and improvement initiatives
- Undertake senior-level case management, including responsibility for overall cost expenditure related to claims
- Represent the Department at the South Australian Employment Tribunal
- Extensive working knowledge of the Return to Work Act 2014
- Significant workers compensation litigation experience
- Legal qualifications desirable
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
