Safety and Compliance Specialist

Job Overview
This is a critical role within our organisation, where you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and environmental (HSE) compliance across various construction and remediation Defence projects.
Our ideal candidate will have prior experience leading HSE in similar industries and possess excellent attention to detail. They must also be capable of managing incidents and completing reports using industry-standard processes.
Responsibilities
- Assist project teams in preparing and implementing comprehensive HSE documentation
- Coach and educate site personnel on legislative requirements and company procedures
- Administer incident and hazard reporting processes and actions as per established protocols
- Collaborate with management to foster a healthy, safe, and environmentally responsible work culture
- Conduct regular HSE site inspections and audits to ensure compliance
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance site teams' knowledge and skills
- Analyse HSE performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions
Requirements
- A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a HSE advisor role, preferably within the construction industry
- Prior experience leading HSE in similar industries is highly regarded
- Excellent attention to detail, prioritisation, and time management skills are essential
- Tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety or a related field are necessary
- Defence site experience is highly valued
- Understanding of Quality Management processes is desired
