Overview

  • We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Specialist to support children and families as they transition into school, build positive attendance habits, and access the services they need to succeed.

Gracemere State School is located in Gracemere on the outskirts of Rockhampton and caters for students from Prep to Year 6. The school's core purpose is built on established traditions and high expectations with strong parent and community engagement and support. This is underpinned by four key values: Always Present, Always Safe, Always Respectful, and Always Learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with classroom teachers, teacher aides, and specialist support staff to understand the child's needs and connect families with relevant services.
  • Support the needs of vulnerable children from diverse and complex backgrounds, including those with disability and in care.
  • Build family capacity to assist their child's learning, development, and wellbeing.
  • Assist school communities in advocating for vulnerable children and families to address their needs.

Requirements
  • Experience working in a culturally responsive manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Knowledge of local service providers and agency supports would be highly regarded.
