About the Opportunity

Hope Community Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Indigenous Health Project Officer to lead our team in delivering culturally secure health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the Goldfields region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve access to mainstream primary care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including increasing awareness of and maximising links between services.
  • Facilitate working relationships and communication exchange between mainstream organisations, Aboriginal Medical Services, and their peak bodies.
  • Work with local stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to improve access to mainstream primary care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to improve the capacity of mainstream primary care providers to deliver culturally appropriate primary care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Requirements
  • Commitment to upholding Hope Community Services' vision, mission, and values.
  • Experience in working with Aboriginal people and in culturally secure ways.
  • High level of written communication skills, including report writing.
  • High level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including negotiation skills and the ability to liaise with people in a variety of contexts.
  • Qualifications, skills, and experience are not specified for the Indigenous Health Project Officer role. It is expected that Indigenous Health Project Officers will have the qualifications and/or skills and experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people required for the performance of the roles and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team to provide a coordinated approach to service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with government, non-government, industry, and community stakeholders to coordinate service delivery.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply for this role.
Desirable Criteria
  • Tertiary degree qualifications in health, education, social science, or approved equivalent, with demonstrated experience.
