Indigenous Health Project Officer

The Indigenous Health Project Officer (IHPO) is a key position within Hope Community Services, responsible for leading a team to provide culturally secure health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This role requires a strong understanding of Indigenous health issues and a commitment to improving health outcomes for these communities.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Team Management: Lead a team of health professionals to provide culturally secure health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Needs Assessment and Planning: Conduct needs assessments and develop plans to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Service Development and Coordination: Develop and coordinate services to improve access to mainstream primary care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Culturally Secure Practice: Ensure that all services are delivered in a culturally secure manner, taking into account the unique needs and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including government agencies, non-government organizations, and community groups.
- Experience in Indigenous Health: A strong understanding of Indigenous health issues and a commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Leadership and Management Skills: Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in leading a team of health professionals.
- Culturally Secure Practice: A strong understanding of culturally secure practice and the ability to apply this in a health service setting.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Qualifications and Experience: A tertiary degree in a relevant field, such as health, education, or social science, and experience working in Indigenous health.
