About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Legislative Policy Officer to join our Strategy, Policy and Legislation team in Canberra CBD.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive advice and support on policy matters and in relation to regulatory legislative frameworks.

This is a full-time role with flexible working arrangements considered.

Key requirements include:

  • Assessing, advising on and mitigating risks associated with delegation
  • Drafting instructions and advising on edits for commercial determinations
  • Developing drafting instructions for legislative amendments and supporting their progression through the legislative process
  • Preparing briefs to decide on requests from suppliers to be exempt from requirements in regulator's determinations
  • Supporting the drafting and finalisation of other legislative instruments

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Strong communications skills
  • Experience as a practicing lawyer and/or in legislation development
  • Previous experience in government setting
  • Problem solving skills
  • Regulatory experience
