Job Summary

About the Role

The Strategic Policy and Governance Specialist will report to the Senior Director Project Manager and work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure alignment with legislation and best practices. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with SMEs to create frameworks, policies, and procedures that promote safety and wellbeing in line with legislation.
  • Reviewing and updating existing policies, ensuring they are aligned with broader safety and wellbeing standards.
  • Developing initiatives and programs that facilitate effective policy implementation.
  • Preparing briefs and reports as required, ensuring high-quality documentation.
  • Liaising with stakeholders across various levels, fostering proactive and cooperative relationships to advance projects and policy objectives.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Proven experience in developing government policies or programs.
  • Ability to draft evidence-based policies, interpret legislation, and apply it effectively in a policy context.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders, provide feedback, and produce high-quality written briefs and reports.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in ICT, with an ability to leverage technology to achieve outcomes.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to review policies, improve compliance, and prioritize tasks under pressure.
Estimated Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per annum
