About This Opportunity

This is an exciting chance to contribute to the advancement of cardiac transplantation and critical care medicine. As a Research Scientist, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team at The University of Queensland, working alongside leading clinicians and scientists in the field.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Research: Collaborate with the existing team to lead the heart transplantation program, ensuring its relevance and innovation by staying informed about the latest research and clinical developments.
  2. Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise honours students, mentor PhD students, and provide feedback and training.
  3. Citizenship and Service: Engage external stakeholders, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, participate in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, and uphold university values.
Requirements:
  • Completion or near completion of a PhD in biomedical science, cardiology, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related field.
  • An emerging profile in research in cardiology, critical care medicine, and/or cardiac transplantation.
  • Evidence of publications in reputable refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
  • Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.
  • Experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and efficiently under pressure.
  • Resourceful problem-solving skills (please provide an example in your cover letter).
