We are seeking an exceptional Nurse Practitioner to lead our Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) course at La Trobe University.

About the Position

La Trobe University's School of Nursing and Midwifery is renowned for its innovative teaching and research programs in nursing, midwifery, and related fields. We are embarking on an ambitious plan to immerse our curricula and research within the clinical context through the establishment of the Academic and Research Collaborative in Health (ARCH). This initiative will enable students to access expert clinicians and clinical services, driving clinically relevant research and practice change.

The successful candidate will be an endorsed Nurse Practitioner with expertise in contemporary nursing practice and facilitating postgraduate education. They will lead the development and delivery of the Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) course, contributing significantly to its leadership and ongoing growth. Key responsibilities include:

  • Working with industry partners to support the clinical supervision of nurse practitioner students;
  • Designing innovative curriculum that reflects developing best practices nationally and internationally;
  • Providing leadership and mentoring to others in subject or course level curriculum design and development;
  • Selecting prospective nurse practitioner students according to selection policies and procedures;
  • Implementing teaching improvement projects at course, discipline, or School level;

The ideal candidate will possess a completed endorsed nurse practitioner master's degree, significant experience in the discipline area, and a doctoral qualification in nursing or a relevant field. They must hold current endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and demonstrate effectiveness in teaching, curriculum development, and subject coordination. Strong leadership capacity and commitment to excellence in teaching are essential.

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience. As a senior academic, you will contribute to building a culture that values excellence in teaching within La Trobe University.
