About the Role

The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Capital Works Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Programs and Place Branch, you will be responsible for delivering capital works and operational projects across a portfolio of nine distinct locations in Canberra, Sydney, and Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Manage a small Capital Works team to ensure effective delivery of capital works and workplace accommodation projects.
  • Program Governance: Ensure effective program governance and quality standards of infrastructure projects and risk management.
  • Resource Allocation: Allocate resources, workflows, and set work area priorities to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets, contracts, and process payments for capital works projects.
  • Tender Documentation: Develop tender documentation and undertake procurement that complies with Australian Government procurement framework.
  • Sustainability: Support APS Net Zero reporting requirements and alignment with APS sustainable procurement guidance.
Selection Criteria
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in managing small teams in the delivery of capital works, asset replacement, and/or construction projects.
  • Procurement: Demonstrated experience in the application of Australian Government procurement procedures and experience in preparing and managing budgets.
  • Time Management: Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage time, and project workload with competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • WHS and Risk Management: Demonstrated experience in the application of Work Health and Safety and risk management principles relating to buildings and facilities operations.
  • Communication: Well-developed written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to effectively liaise and negotiate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Project Management Qualifications: A Diploma in Project Management or similar formal project management qualifications in a Prince2 or related methodology.
  • Cultural Facility Experience: Experience working in a public or cultural facility with relevant knowledge of balancing the needs of collection materials and public access during capital works programs.
