About the Role

The Participation Manager – Sydney City will lead and guide our participation workforce to grow participation across the City, East, Inner West and South regions of Sydney.

The role will be responsible for growing participation across NAB AFL Auskick, Schools, NAB AFL Superkick and AFL Nines, driving the transition of participants into community football and other products to continue their football journey.

Additionally, they will look for opportunities specific to their geographical region to support growth aspirations as well as leading a local high-performing team.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Design and Implement Tactical Growth Strategies: Develop and execute comprehensive growth plans to increase participation across all programs, in coordination with NSW/ACT game development functions.
  2. Lead and Guide Local Participation Staff: Provide operational excellence in program delivery, ensuring a quality experience for every participant.
  3. Ensure Sustainable Growth Outcomes: Ensure all programming is designed to achieve long-term growth objectives for the AFL.
  4. Establish and Deliver Growth Plans: Develop and implement growth plans for AFL Sydney Junior clubs within designated regions.
  5. Drive Strategic Outcomes: Utilize data from platforms like Salesforce, Tableau, and Deputy to understand challenges and opportunities specific to geographical areas and drive strategic outcomes.
  6. Provide Coaching and Education: Offer coaching and education to Participation Leads, Coordinators, and casual staff to enhance capability and best practice delivery standards.
  7. Collaborate with Functional Leads: Align with State and National strategies to deliver objectives driving growth across the Women & Girls and Diversity & Inclusion sectors.
  8. Collaborate with Community Football Team: Understand challenges and opportunities in Community clubs and drive actions to support growth and transition of participants between ages 4-12.
  9. Lead Diverse Thinking and Planning: Attract new markets to the game through diverse thinking and planning.
  10. Manage Budget and Meet Financial Targets: Oversee budget and meet financial targets in the sub-region.
  11. Contribute to Key Projects: Contribute to key projects within and outside of core role and support the success of the broader team.
