Senior Advisor Indigenous Affairs Position

About the Role
The Senior First Peoples Advisor is a key position at Metro Trains Melbourne, responsible for developing and delivering the company's Self-Determination Plan. This plan aims to improve engagement and opportunities for participation with First Peoples communities.
As a member of the Corporate Responsibility team within the Corporate Affairs division, the successful candidate will be based at 700 Collins Street and will enjoy a hybrid arrangement with three days in the office and two days working from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of Metro's Self-Determination Plan, including convening a Self-Determination Steering Committee.
- Manage and develop external engagement with First Nations communities and stakeholders to ensure self-determination is embedded in the plan.
- Lead the engagement for Metro's Indigenous Employee Network by identifying and implementing opportunities for enhancement.
- Lead and manage Metro's First Nations community partnerships, seeking opportunities to bolster the partnership and Metro's exposure.
- Prepare and present information and reports to the Metro Executive team and the Department of Transport and Planning.
About You
- Previous experience in Indigenous Affairs and community engagement and/or social procurement positions.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively engage and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, particularly leading and implementing strategies through collaboration.
- Strong experience in managing community and stakeholder issues.
